Kristi Meccia brings a deep-seated passion and extensive experience in elder care to her role as the Activity Director at Golden Age Home (GAH). With a background rich in sociology, U.S. ethnic studies, and aging, Kristi is dedicated to keeping residents active and engaged, providing a blend of familiar and new activities to enrich their lives.

Kristi's journey in elder care began at a young age, spending summers volunteering at a nursing home where her great-grandmother resided. These formative experiences instilled a lifelong respect and admiration for older adults. Her academic pursuits further honed her expertise, with studies in Human Development, Social Justice, Social Policy, Hospice Systems, and Palliative Care Theory & Practice. Additionally, Kristi has specialized training in areas such as Infant Mental Health, Undoing Racism, and Community Engagement.

In her professional career, Kristi has received accolades for her dedication and contributions, including the Core Values Award and CPS Staff Member of the Year. Her extensive community involvement includes positions on various Child Protective Services Boards and therapeutic horsemanship programs, showcasing her commitment to service and care.

Kristi's personal life is filled with joy and fulfillment, as she is a proud mother to an adult son and a devoted caregiver to four dogs. She enjoys music, dancing, live events, theater, and is an avid fan of Real Madrid CF.

Inspired by her early experiences with her great-grandmothers and her involvement with the American-Indian community, Kristi has developed a profound appreciation for the wisdom and perspectives of older adults. Her personal philosophy emphasizes the importance of alleviating suffering and meeting people where they are to best assist them.

In her role at GAH, Kristi aspires to ensure that residents feel respected, valued, and engaged, aligning perfectly with the organization's mission of providing compassionate, faith-based care. Kristi's dedication to serving elders with utmost compassion and respect underscores her commitment to making a positive impact in their lives.
