Shower room located a couple doors down the hall for those who need more assistance to utilize. There are separate shower rooms for men and women.

Each resident has their own room (also referred to as apartments). All rooms include individual A/C & heater units, built-in vanity, cable TV (cable TV is included in room fee), Lifeline emergency call button, individual wheelchair accessible bathroom, and ample storage. Rooms are not furnished allowing the residents to bring their familiar belongings and  make it feel like their home.

Golden Age Home has a unique program that offers a limited number of efficient apartments for independent living at subsidized pricing to senior adults living on a fixed income. The price for these apartments is determined by the individual’s income rate and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs guidelines. 

These rooms are located in the same building as the assisted living therefore these residents enjoy many of the perks AL has to offer such as social events, daily meal plan and weekly housekeeping. Home Health may be used to meet nursing and therapy needs.

Each of these apartments are 232 sq. ft., ADA compliant, , equipped with a kitchenette (microwave and small refrigerator included), personal A/C & heater unit and cable TV.  Additional emergency call cords are located in the bathroom and living area.

respite

Respite care refers to services that provide "temporary relief for caregivers and families who are caring for those with disabilities, chronic or terminal illnesses, or the elderly.”

The stay can vary from 3 days to 60 days. Residents who come for respite care enjoy all the amenities provided for our full time residents, including: 

• Fully furnished apartment with cable television

• Service and Care Plan

• Attendant Observation

• Daily Assistance

• 3 Meals Daily and Snacks

• Medication Management (if needed)

• Planned Social Events

• Bi-weekly housekeeping with linen service

However, there are some benefits you may be eligible to use:

• Veterans Affairs

  • Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits provide monthly payments added to the amount of a monthly VA pension for qualified Veterans and survivors. This benefit can be used to pay for Assisted Living, Nursing Home or Respite Care coverage (up to 30 days per year) for qualified veterans.

  • In addition, when war-time vets care for their spouses, funding for in-home services are available on a state-by-state basis.

• Long-term care insurance

  • Some long-term care insurance policies will cover costs for Assisted Living and/or respite expenses. Assistance is available to review your policy.
