Golden Age Home began as a dream in the hearts & minds of the community of Lockhart First United Methodist Church in the late 1950s.

Our history: A Legacy rooted in faith and community care

Golden Age Home officially opened in November 1960, on a 20-acre land south of Lockhart, designed with a distinct four-wing, cartwheel style. Initially owned by the Austin District of the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, it offered both an infirmary and residential living, marking the beginning of its service to the community.

By the late 1980s, responding to evolving community needs, a modern nursing facility was constructed to provide enhanced care, culminating in the opening of a new 118-bed building in 1990. This expansion allowed for the original building's transformation into an Assisted Living facility, further broadening our service spectrum.

Evolving Relationships and Autonomy

The 1990s witnessed pivotal changes in governance, with Golden Age Home transitioning in 1992 to operate with more autonomy from the United Methodist Church, while still maintaining a close relationship for support and guidance.

Our commitment to excellence and community service continued through the decades, with significant renovations and program expansions. In 2010, strategic decisions led to the sale of the Nursing Home, focusing our resources on Assisted Living and independent living facilities, including affordable housing options for low-income seniors.

As we moved into the new millennium, Golden Age Home adapted to the changing times while staying true to its mission. Our acknowledgment for deficiency-free surveys since 2015 underscores our unwavering commitment to quality and care standards.

Edythe Party Assisted Living Testimonial
Working as a home health nurse in the Lockhart community, I saw many residents at Golden Age Home over the years. When my grandmother moved to Lockhart, it was an easy decision to find her a home there. My grandma, Edythe, lived at Golden Age Home ALF for 12 years and made many friends there. The staff always treated her as family.
